Setting Audio preferences
The Audio category of the Max Preferences window shows the settings that allow you to interact with audio plug-ins that are installed on your computer.
Selecting a Plug-in Scanning option
- Choose Preferences from the Max menu (Macintosh) or the Options menu (Windows) to show the Preferences Window and scroll to the Audio category of the preferences listings.

Scroll to the Audio category of the preferences listings,
and select one of the options available in the Audio Plug-in Scanning
setting:
Minimal/Fast will register all plug-in files.
Complete/Slow will verify plug-ins before registering them, and will iterate through shell plug-ins (such as the Expert Sleepers and Waves plug-ins).
Running a Plug-in Scan
- Choose Preferences from the Max menu (Macintosh) or the Options menu (Windows) to show the Preferences Window and select the All tab to display the Audio preferences category.
- Click on the 'scan' button to perform a complete audio plug-in scan.
