Package Max

array.some

Test the elements of an array object for a matching condition

Description

Each element of an incoming array will be output sequentially. Each element can be tested and a 0 or 1 passed back into the right inlet of the array.some object, indicating whether the element passed the test. When iteration is complete, either a 0 or 1 will be output, signalling whether some elements of the array matched the testing condition.

Arguments

None.

Attributes

Common Box Attributes

Below is a list of attributes shared by all objects. If you want to change one of these attributes for an object based on the object box, you need to place the word sendbox in front of the attribute name, or use the object's Inspector.

annotation[symbol]

Sets the text that will be displayed in the Clue window when the user moves the mouse over the object.

background[int]: 0

Adds or removes the object from the patcher's background layer. background 1 adds the object to the background layer, background 0 removes it. Objects in the background layer are shown behind all objects in the default foreground layer.

color[4 floats]

Sets the color for the object box outline.

fontface[int]

Sets the type style used by the object. The options are:

Toggles whether an object is hidden when the patcher is locked.

hint[symbol]

Sets the text that will be displayed in as a pop-up hint when the user moves the mouse over the object in a locked patcher.

ignoreclick[int]: 0

Toggles whether an object ignores mouse clicks in a locked patcher.

JS Painter File

patching_rect[4 floats]: 0. 0. 100. 0.

Sets the position and size of the object in the patcher window.

position[2 floats]
write-only

Sets the object's x and y position in both patching and presentation modes (if the object belongs to its patcher's presentation), leaving its size unchanged.

presentation[int]: 0

Sets whether an object belongs to the patcher's presentation.

presentation_rect[4 floats]: 0. 0. 0. 0.

Sets the x and y position and width and height of the object in the patcher's presentation, leaving its patching position unchanged.

rect[4 floats]

size[2 floats]
write-only

Sets the object's width and height in both patching and presentation modes (if the object belongs to its patcher's presentation), leaving its position unchanged.

textcolor[4 floats]

Messages

bang

Reprocess previously received array and trigger output.

int

Convert an incoming integer to an array, then process as described for the array message.

  (inlet1)

0 (test failed) or a 1 (test passed) should be sent to this inlet for each iterated element.

float

Convert an incoming floating-point number to an array, then process as described for the array message.

list

Convert an incoming list to an array, then process as described for the array message.

anything

Convert an incoming list to an array, then process as described for the array message.

array

In the left inlet, an incoming array will trigger the output of each element sequentially, as a series of individual messages. The element index will be output from the rightmost outlet, and the element value from the middle outlet.

Each of these messages can be tested (synchronously or asynchronously) and the result of that test (a 0 (failed) or a 1 (passed)) returned to the array.some object's right inlet. When iteration is complete, and a result for each element has been sent to the object's right inlet, a 0 (no elements passed the test) or a 1 (some elements passed the test) will be sent from the object's left outlet.

cancel

Cancels the currently active iteration and testing. The array.some object will now be ready to start testing a new array.

dictionary

In the left inlet, wrap an incoming dictionary object in an array, then process as described for the array message.

string

In the left inlet, wrap a string object in an array, then process as described for the array message.
